CENTER POINT, Ala. (AP) - Jefferson County authorities have released the identity of a woman who was shot to death while caring for her friend’s four children.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1FplTLp ) that the Jefferson County coroner’s office on Monday identified the woman as 24-year-old Mylira Elizabeth Generette.

Jefferson County sheriff’s Sgt. Jack Self said Generette had been staying at the home with a friend. She was watching the children Saturday morning while her friend was out.

Self said say the children’s 32-year-old father showed up just before 9:30 a.m. and got into an argument with Generette. Self said the man then got a handgun from his car and returned to the house and shot Generette.

The man has been in jail since Saturday. Authorities say they’ll release his name once they’ve obtained a capital murder warrant.
