WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - Police in Wheeling have arrested a man who escaped from a prison work release program in Huntington.

Media outlets report 46-year-old David Wayne Richardson was arrested early Sunday while police were investigating break-ins at two Wheeling businesses.

Richardson was being held Monday at the Northern Correctional Facility in Moundsville on charges of breaking and entering and escape.

According to the Division of Corrections, Richardson never returned from his work assignment May 22.

Richardson was serving a one-to-10-year sentence for a 2013 forgery and uttering conviction from Ohio County.
