LOS ANGELES (AP) - The lawyer who led an unsuccessful fight to block a San Diego County school system from teaching yoga says no appeal is planned.

Dean Broyles, attorney for the National Center for Law and Policy, said in a statement Friday that the legal battle over yoga classes within the Encinitas Union School District is finished.

But Broyles said this week that his group will continue to educate parents about what he calls the religious intent of yoga.

The 4th District Court of Appeal in San Diego in April ruled that yoga is not a gateway to Hinduism and doesn’t violate the religious rights of students or their parents.

Stephen and Jennifer Sedlock and their two children had brought the lawsuit claiming yoga promoted Hinduism and inhibited Christianity.
