WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) - The Maui Police Department is accusing one of its officers of driving under the influence.

The department says Officer John Salomon was arrested and charged Thursday for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant. Police say he refused to submit to a breath, blood or urine test.

Salomon is a three-year veteran of the force. His credentials and firearms have been taken away. He’s on personal leave.

He was released after posting $1,300 bail. He didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment Friday, left at a number listed for his Pukalani home.
