WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida teen was trying to rob a drug dealer when he accidentally shot the fire alarm.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies say the 17-year old went to the dealer’s house last month to buy a $10 bag of marijuana. According to an arrest report the teen pushed his way inside and fired two rounds, missing the dealer both times. Instead, one of the bullets went into the fire alarm, setting off the ceiling sprinklers while the two struggled for the gun.

The Sun-Sentinel (https://tinyurl.com/obwrq6w) reports the teen recovered the gun and allegedly shot the dealer in the arm.

The Associated Press is not naming the teen because he is a minor. He was charged Thursday with armed robbery, aggravated battery with a firearm, burglary and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
