MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man was killed and a woman was injured when the parked car they were in was struck by pickup and rolled over on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies tell City News Service that the driver of the GMC Sierra pickup either fell asleep or was distracted when the truck drifted into several parked vehicles shortly before 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

The crumpled Honda came to a rest at the lip of an embankment above the beach near Corral Canyon Road.

A man and a woman in another car that was struck were not hurt. The condition of the driver of the pickup truck was not immediately known.

Police did not immediately announce any arrests. The incident remains under investigation.

Eastbound lanes of the PCH were closed in both directions for several hours.
