SELMA, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Selma say a fire at an apartment complex has displaced four families.

Assistant Fire Chief Mark Walker tells the Selma Times-Journal (https://bit.ly/1L5RZj5 ) a blaze broke out at the Les Chateaus Apartments early Friday morning and all of the building’s residents were able to escape without injury.

Battalion Chief Doug Horton says the unit the fire originated in was heavily damaged and the blaze caused significant smoke and water damage to nearby units.

Horton says the fire may have been linked to a cooking accident.

Property manager Carla Lowe said she was trying to find temporary places for the families to stay.
