CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities have arrested the boyfriend of a Phoenix woman whose body was found in the desert in the Pinal County community of Stanfield.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office took 39-year-old Rolland Camargo into custody Friday. So far, he has not been charged with anything related to the death of Nicole Rivas.

Sheriff’s spokesman Mark Clark says Camargo was being arrested for statements he made regarding Rivas’ death but investigators are not calling him a suspect.

The 37-year-old mother was reported missing in Phoenix on June 6 after she failed to pick up her daughter.

Her fully-clothed body was found Wednesday under a shrub by a farm worker. Investigators believe Rivas died days earlier.

The cause of death has not been determined but preliminary evidence indicates her death was suspicious.
