CINCINNATI (AP) - The FBI is trying to identify and find a man dubbed the “Sock Hat Bandit” and linked to nine bank robberies in three states.

Authorities believe he robbed an Anderson, Indiana, bank Wednesday. He’s also suspected in six Ohio bank robberies and two in northern Kentucky, near Cincinnati, over two months.

Bank photos show the suspect covers his head with different colored sock hats but doesn’t cover his face, although he usually wears glasses.

The FBI says he hands a note to tellers claiming to have a gun. No one has been hurt, but authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

He is described as white, between the ages of 35 and 45, and of average height and weight.

The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information.
