DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - Police have arrested a man they say drunkenly crashed into three parked cars, sped off, then returned to the scene.

The Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1QvkMnL ) that 28-year-old Brett Howes was arrested Friday and charged with eight counts, including operating while intoxicated, driving while suspended, having an open container of alcohol and not having automobile insurance.

Police say Howes’ stepfather reported that Howes hit a parked vehicle on the street multiple times before knocking the stepfather down when pulling away from the curb.

Police say Howes then hit two other parked vehicles and a stop sign. Police say as officers were investigating, Howes drove by but refused to stop, almost hitting an officer.

Howes posted $2,000 bond later Friday. He could not be reached for comment.
