LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A block in downtown Laramie has reopened after being closed for nearly a week following a building collapse.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/1ebVpGI ) that the area reopened Friday after an engineer determined it was safe.

The Hart’s Alley building had partially collapsed early Sunday morning, causing officials to cordon off the 400 block of South Second Street for safety reasons.

It is unclear what caused the collapse.

Laramie Main Street Alliance Executive Director Trey Sherwood says many businesses in the area have reopened.

J’s Prairie Rose owner Jason Eickbush says being closed for an indeterminate amount of time was especially hard on employees living paycheck-to-paycheck.
