NORTH BEND, Ore. (AP) - North Bend police are asking for help identifying an elderly man whose body was found in the water by a city employee.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1ebTjXe ) that police say the man was found Monday morning about 50 feet offshore near Harbor Street. They believe the body was in the water for a few hours at most.

Police say there are no signs of trauma or injury. They have not ruled out the possibility that the man had dementia.

He was found with no identification, only clothing and a pair of reading glasses.

The man is described as 75 to 85 years old, just over 6 feet tall and mostly bald, with gray hair and blue eyes.

Authorities say he appears to have had excellent hygiene and grooming habits.
