FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - One teenager was shot to death and four others wounded at a huge party in Fayette County, south of Atlanta, authorities said.

As many as 200 people were at the party, which was advertised on social media, officials said.

Fayette County deputies responded to the home along Georgia 279 in Fayetteville around 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Fayette County sheriff’s spokesman Allen Stevens said. They found five teenagers shot at the residence.

Four of the teens were taken to Atlanta-area hospitals and were expected to survive, Stevens said. A fifth teen — a 19-year-old man from Stockbridge — was pronounced dead at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

A fight broke out after the homeowner arrived and tried to break up the party, Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb told WSB-TV.

People cleared out, leaving beer bottles and tire marks all over the lawn and someone pulled out a gun, WXIA-TV reported.

“I heard at least 10 to 13 shots,” Marqes Woods told WXIA.

“It’s crazy. A teenager is dead, over nothing,” Woods added. “I just want to know why. Was it really that important to take a life?”
