BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say two people were killed and other motorists hurt during an early morning crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 59 in Birmingham.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1GGEcS0) that the wreck — which involved three vehicles — happened around 4:21 a.m. Sunday, just south of the 4th Avenue South exit.

Birmingham police Lt. Scott Thurmond said both of the people who died were in the same vehicle. He described injuries to other motorists as not life-threatening.

The identities of those killed had not yet been released. Few other details of the crash were available early Sunday afternoon.
