GENESEO, N.Y. (AP) - Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty has issued a boating advisory for Conesus Lake because of recent rain storms.

The sheriff says the lake has risen more than 4 inches because of heavy rainfall and that it contains large pieces of debris. He says the rising water level is causing issues for docks and moored boats, and no wake zones are being enforced by marine patrol deputies.

The lake remains open for boating and recreational activities. Dougherty urges boaters to use caution.
