AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - A bee expert from Slovenia will visit the University of Massachusetts Amherst to talk about his efforts to establish a “World Bee Day.”

Janko Bozic, a professor of animal behavior at Ljubljana University, Slovenia, will visit UMass Monday. Bozic is working to establish a World Bee Day to recognize the importance of the insect pollinators to food crops and agriculture around the world.

Slovenia, a central European country, is known as the Bee Capital of the World. Bozic is an expert in honeybee physiology and behavior.

The presentation will be hosted by the Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment at UMass Amherst.
