BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The state tax commissioner is reminding North Dakotans that June 30 is the deadline to apply for a refund of fuel taxes paid in 2014 on gasoline and gasohol bought to power farm, ranch, and industrial equipment used off-road.

Fuel purchased for use by an emergency medical services operation also qualifies for a refund.

Taxes collected on motor fuels go toward highway maintenance. State Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger (RAW’-shuhn-bur-gur) says state law provides for the refund because construction and farm equipment typically doesn’t operate on public highways.

Fuel used in vehicles designed for use on public roads is not eligible for the refund.
