SPARTA, N.J. (AP) - Authorities are searching for a boat that fled the scene after colliding with a pontoon boat on a northwestern New Jersey lake, leaving two people injured.

State police say the accident happened around 12:50 a.m. Sunday on Lake Mohawk in Sussex County.

The two injured people were among five people aboard the pontoon boat. The collision knocked them and another passenger into the water.

Authorities say the injuries suffered by the two passengers were not life-threatening, but further details on their conditions were not disclosed. They were both being treated at a hospital.

Details about the other boat involved in the collision were not immediately available. It was not known if anyone aboard that vessel was injured.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
