IRVINE, Calif. (AP) - A 2-year-old girl has died from injuries sustained during a hit-and-run crash in Irvine four days earlier.

Orange County coroner’s officials said Kaydence Hampton of Lake Forest died at a hospital Sunday afternoon.

The toddler was in a car Wednesday with her grandmother, mother and 7-year-old brother when their Chevy Cruz was struck by a Ford Mustang.

The girl’s grandmother was pronounced dead at the scene. Her mother and brother remained hospitalized in stable condition.

The driver of the Mustang — 20-year-old Alec Abraham of Costa Mesa — ran away, triggering an extensive search of the area. Police found him the next day at a Costa Mesa park.

The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/1MCNxsp) police are investigating the possibility that street racing led to the collision.
