BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - Police say one person was killed when a car crashed into a center divider and burst into flames on a major Beverly Hills thoroughfare.

Sgt. David Tomlin says the fiery, single-vehicle crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday on La Cienega Boulevard at Gregory Way.

Tomlin says the victim was found inside the car after the flames were put out.

Television news footage shows the crumpled car completely blackened from the blaze.

The victim has not been identified.

City News Service says La Cienega will be closed for several hours during the investigation.
