NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Police say they have arrested a car thief after he led authorities on a chase.

Multiple news sources report 18-year-old Calvin Hickerson was arrested early Sunday morning. Authorities say Hickerson approached an 80-year-old woman as she got in her car in a neighborhood complex, forced the woman from her car at gunpoint, then drove off with her car.

Later, an officer spotted Hickerson inside of the stolen vehicle and a chase ensued ending in Hickerson’s arrest.

Hickerson is charged with three counts of armed robbery, three counts of armed robbery with a firearm, illegal possession of a stolen auto, speeding, reckless operation of a vehicle, running a red light, driving without a license and flight from an officer. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
