CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A child has acknowledged starting a fire that severely damaged a Casper home and sent one person to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/ZmQS6d ) firefighters on Sunday doused the flames in the garage and house before punching a hole in the roof to release more smoke. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes.

Casper Fire-EMS says a small child confessed to starting the fire in the garage with a lighter he had found. The fire grew rapidly, and the child alerted all the other residents to escape.
