CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The Coast Guard has rescued a man thrown from a personal water craft onto the rocks at the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge near Charleston.

The Coast Guard said a 50-year-old man and his wife were thrown from the craft around 1 p.m. Sunday.

The man suffered neck and arm injuries and was flown to the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston for treatment. His wife was not hurt and had called for help.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources found the woman and took her to the hospital to be with her husband.

There was no word on the man’s condition. The couple’s name was not released.
