COVINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in Indiana say an 18-year-old Covington man died after he was swept through the Coal Creek low head dam.

WLFI-TV (https://bit.ly/1G7GuTL ) reports that the body of Brandon Simmons was found 1 1/2 miles downstream about two hours after Fountain County Dispatch received a report that a man had been swept away. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fountain County Coroner’s office.

Recent rains had flooded various waterways and made them dangerous. Officials say they’ve been responding to calls to rescue people in area creeks and other waterways.
