OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City Police say a burglary suspect was killed in a head-on collision on an Interstate 35 onramp.

The man’s name has not been released.

Capt. Paco Balderrama says the man was a suspect in several burglaries and an undercover officer spotted him on Interstate 40 and called for a marked patrol car to make a traffic stop. The suspect stopped on I-40, but as the officer approached the man drove away and crossed the median, driving west in the eastbound lanes before turning onto I-35 and driving south in the northbound lanes.

Balderrama says police did not chase the man and he attempted to exit I-35, but crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer on a northbound I-35 onramp.

The onramp is expected to be closed for several hours Monday afternoon.
