EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Authorities have identified a man killed in a boating accident on the Willamette River as 35-year-old Andrew Terrell of Eugene.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office says Terrell was the only person on a pontoon boat that overturned Saturday after hitting a partially submerged root ball.

The sheriff’s office says the root ball and the swift current likely prevented Terrell from resurfacing. A life jacket was on the boat, but Terrell was not wearing it.
