PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say an early morning fire claimed the life of a woman in a suburban Philadelphia home and also injured four other people.

The fire in Lower Salford Township in Montgomery County was reported at about 2 a.m. Monday, and arriving units reported heavy flames coming from the rear of the home.

Harleysville Fire Co. officials said four residents who escaped told firefighters that a woman was trapped on the second floor.

But officials said that when firefighters entered the home, the floor collapsed and they had to retreat. No firefighters were injured.

The four adults who escaped were treated at Grand View Hospital for injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.

The fire was brought under control at about 3:40 a.m. Monday. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
