ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Ford Motor Co. is making a $500,000 donation to a well-known Ann Arbor music venue.

Detroit Free Press columnist Tom Walsh reports (https://on.freep.com/1TniRAO ) Ford’s gift to The Ark will be paid over 20 years. It marks the 50th anniversary of The Ark and helps put the venue’s anniversary capital campaign more than 70 percent of the way to a $2.5 million goal.

The Dearborn-based automaker’s gift involves naming the venue’s main stage the “Ford Listening Room.”

The Ark’s executive director Marianne James says the fundraising “will position The Ark for the future of the next 50 years.”

Jim Vella, president of the Ford Motor Company Fund and community affairs, says the automaker and its philanthropic arm hope the gift will give The Ark long-term financial stability and enable more outreach.
