RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Forecasters say dangerous heat is expected across much of central and eastern North Carolina.

The National Weather Service on Monday issued a heat advisory for much of central North Carolina, as well as the central and southeastern coastal regions of the state.

Forecasters said the most dangerous times for the heat will be from midday until early evening.

Heat index readings are expected to be around 106 or 107 across the area.

The affected areas range from Chapel Hill and Raleigh east and southeast to Greenville, Wilmington and much of the Outer Banks.
