PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say they’re searching for the body of a teenager who is believed to have drowned at Lake Pleasant.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say the 16-year-old boy was swimming with three friends Monday morning to an island about 200 yards from shore when he went under the water and didn’t resurface.

The boy’s friends couldn’t locate him and called 911.

Sheriff’s officials say divers are searching for the body in the Cole’s Bay area of the lake.

They say the boy was described as an average swimmer and alcohol was not a factor.

The name of the teenager hasn’t been released yet.
