ALLEGAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A southwestern Michigan father has pleaded no contest to manslaughter and first-degree child abuse charges in the death of his 3-month-old son.

Jonathan Colby entered his plea Monday.

Jase Colby was found unresponsive in December at an Allegan Township home about 30 miles south-southwest of Grand Rapids. The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police have said Jonathan Colby told investigators the boy was struck in the head because he was crying.

A no contest plea isn’t an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing. Colby is scheduled to be sentenced on July 20.
