STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 4-year-old boy has died after being found face down in a swimming pool in suburban Detroit.

Sterling Heights police Chief Michael Reese tells MLive.com that the boy and his parents, who are from Lake Orion, were visiting friends on Sunday when the child wandered away.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reports the boy wasn’t breathing when emergency crews responded and he was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The child’s name wasn’t immediately released. Reese says the death is under investigation but appears to be an accident.
