VERSAILLES, Ohio — Police say an out-of-control antique tractor has struck a couple and their two grandchildren during a parade in a western Ohio village.

Police Chief Mark Humphreys says the Greenville couple and their 7- and 4-year-old grandsons were watching the parade from the sidewalk in Versailles when the tractor struck them Saturday. It was driven by an 82-year-old man.

A Miami Valley Hospital spokeswoman says 63-year-old Kathryn Hamilton remained in critical condition Monday, and 64-year-old Thomas Hamilton was in fair condition.

Humphreys says the couple’s grandchildren were treated at another hospital and released. He says the driver of the tractor wasn’t injured.

Humphreys says operator error appeared to have caused the accident. He says the investigation is continuing.
