DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a woman and 5-year-old child have died and three others are injured after a crash on a southwest Ohio highway.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred early Sunday morning on Interstate 75 near Harrison Township when a minivan went off the road and slammed into several trees.

The Dayton Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1MDSrp9 ) a woman riding in the front passenger seat and a 5 -year-old sitting in the rear were killed in the crash. The driver and another adult were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. A 2-year-old child suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say they’re still investigating the crash, but don’t believe alcohol was a factor.

The patrol says the family was from North Carolina. Their names weren’t immediately released.
