HOUMA, La. (AP) - A man has been arrested and another is wanted in Saturday’s fatal shooting in Gibson.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office says 29-year-old Carl Hayes, of Gibson was booked with second-degree murder after he surrendered to authorities Monday night.

Capt. Dawn Foret, assistant chief of detectives, says Hayes is being held in the parish jail on a $500,000 bond.

Foret says 26-year-old Kenny Veal, also of Gibson, is still wanted on a second-degree murder charge.

She says the two men are accused in the death of 68-year-old Roosevelt Stewart.

Maj. Malcolm Wolfe, chief of detectives, said the sheriff’s office is still investigating possible motives.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Hayes.
