BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) - U.S. Coast Guard officials say three people were rescued from a boat that caught fire off the Georgia coast.
Petty Officer First Class Stephen Lehmann said in a statement that the fishing boat was about 118 miles east of Brunswick when it caught fire Tuesday.
Lehmann says an engine fire had engulfed the 95-foot boat and a commercial fishing vessel diverted its course to help the stranded fishermen. Lehmann says the crew on the second boat saw three people in a life raft and brought them aboard.
Officials say an aircrew from Air Station Savannah lifted the three fishermen from the rescue boat and took them to Charleston Executive Airport. No injuries have been reported.
Coast Guard officials thanked the fishing vessel crew for helping in the rescue.
