KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Prosecutors have concluded that a Kingman police officer who fatally shot a man with a BB gun was justified as he acted in self-defense.

Ryan Burgess, 31, was fatally shot on March 11 after aiming his gun at Officer Wayne Hollon. Officer Chaz Truver ordered Burgess to drop the gun and then fired several shots.

Authorities say the BB gun was a replica of a semi-automatic pistol that looked like a real weapon.

The Mohave County Sherriff’s Office said an autopsy conducted after the shooting by a medical examiner indicated alcohol was a factor.

Authorities say the incident occurred after police officials received complaints about a man acting violently and punching holes in the wall.

Truver has since returned to the force after being placed on administrative leave.
