PHOENIX (AP) - The body of the 16-year-old boy who drowned while trying to swim to an island on Lake Pleasant has been recovered.

Maricopa County Sherriff’s Joaquin Enriquez says Damien Serrahn and three of his friends were trying to swim 200 yards to the island on Monday.

At some point the teen yelled to his friends that he was in trouble, but they initially thought he was joking before realizing he was missing.

The boys returned to search for their friend, and one went to call for help.

Enriquez says an underwater robot located the body and divers recovered it late Monday.
