FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of a missing diver from the Gulf of Mexico.

The News-Press of Fort Myers (https://bitly.com/1SdEtOn ) reports the body of 50-year-old Jerry Francis was recovered Monday by a contingent of divers from the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission after went missing two days prior.

On Saturday, Francis was part of a group of divers exploring the USS Mohawk from a charter boat. After an initial dive, he resurfaced and went under again.

A FWC spokesman says divers from a large FWC boat found Francis’ body near the Pegasus, a 110-foot former ocean tug sunk to form an artificial reef. The Pegasus is about 100-feet from the USS Mohawk, a former Navy cutter also sunk to form an artificial reef.
