LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) - Police say charges have been filed against the brother of a 10-year-old boy who was shot in the head at a DeKalb County apartment complex.

DeKalb County police Capt. Steven Fore said Tuesday that 24-year-old Tyderris Cash is charged with reckless conduct, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and cruelty to children.

Fore says investigators determined that Cash was handling the weapon when the boy was shot and critically injured. Fore says a 7-year-old relative was also inside the apartment when the shot was fired.

Court records don’t show an attorney listed for Cash. Records show that Cash’s bond is set at $500.
