SOLON, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be looking at ways to corral the rowdy behavior at Lake Macbride State Park near Solon in eastern Iowa.

Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reports (https://bit.ly/1MZ47U5 ) that one person was arrested for intoxication and assault after a big fight broke out at the lake beach on Sunday. The department says another big fight occurred on June 8.

Officials say alcohol is likely at the root of much of the violence.

Park ranger Gwen Prentice says the Lake Macbride beach is the only one in Johnson County where people can legally drink beer. Department spokesman Kevin Baskins says that “funnels a lot more activity involving alcohol to the Lake Macbride beach, so that’s one of the things that we’ll be looking at as well.”
