STEPHENS, Ark. (AP) - City offices in Stephens have been relocated to an old high school building after a fire destroyed the municipal building.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1J33Wsk ) reports that a blaze last week destroyed the Stephens Municipal Building, which housed the mayor’s office as well as the police and water departments.

It took firefighters around three hours to extinguish the Thursday night fire. Stephens Mayor Harry Brown said the exact cause is still under investigation. But he says there’s strong indication that an electrical issue caused the fire.

Ouachita County Sheriff David Norwood says his office is looking into whether an 18-wheeler accident that happened just before the fire could have been a contributing factor.

Stephens has a population of almost 900.
