CLEVELAND (AP) - A Cleveland man is heading to prison for assaulting a police officer by firing a gun near his face during a struggle.

Northeast Ohio Media Group reports (https://bit.ly/1LdvCs5 ) 37-year-old Ellis Tiller was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday. He pleaded guilty last week to aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and related charges.

Police say officers caught up with Tiller after he broke into a man’s home and stole guns in January. Prosecutors say Tiller pulled a gun while being patted down and aimed it at an officer’s face. The officer moved the gun before it fired, but the gunshot left powder burns on his face.

Tiller’s attorney was disappointed in the sentence.

Another man pleaded guilty in the case and was sentenced to six months in a community-based correctional facility.
