HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - A Brookhaven man has pleaded guilty to his role in a 2012 Christmas Eve fatal shooting of a Hattiesburg man.

WDAM-TV in Laurel reports (https://bit.ly/1IFKdMq ) 21-year-old Chance Nicholas Smith entered a blind plea to manslaughter Friday before Forrest County Circuit Judge Bob Helfrich.

Chance was one of four suspects in the shooting death of 22-year-old Elester Sartin Jr. at a Hattiesburg apartment.

Chance was initially charged with murder. Sartin’s brothers, Damian and Marcus, were each charged with armed robbery and possession of a controlled substance. Semmie Smith of Brookhaven was also charged with murder.

Authorities say the shooting appeared to have resulted in a fight over drugs.

Semmie Smith, Damian and Marcus Sartin each entered blind pleas to a conspiracy charge.

Sentencing dates are pending for all four.
