RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man convicted of manslaughter in a 2012 crash that killed a Rutland teenager as she was walking to her father’s car after work has been sentenced to at least 10 years in prison.
Alex Spanos was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison on Tuesday morning. He was convicted in January of involuntary manslaughter and other charges related to the crash that killed 17-year-old Carly Ferro.
Police had said Spanos of Rutland was huffing chemicals before his car plowed into a parked car, pushing it into Ferro. Two other vehicles were hit and two other people were injured.
Police found aerosol cans and alcohol at the scene.
