MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Rescue workers say a good Samaritan may have saved the life of a man who fell 20-feet from a fire escape and was heard groaning in pain.

The man, who was seriously injured, was hidden from view in a small, fenced area in Manchester, New Hampshire. A woman heard him groaning and alerted her co-workers nearby.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1IGL8MO) the man fell from a second-story fire escape Monday night. Emergency workers believe he had been lying on the ground for hours without anyone noticing. They said he could have died from internal injuries.

The city’s building department has been told to inspect the fire escape, which has since been taped off.
