PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - A Morrow County undersheriff has won the $5.5 million lottery after purchasing an Oregon Megabucks ticket in Boardman.

The East Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1HMLnr5 ) 53-year-old Steve Myren bought the winning ticket at a Chevron station June 7 for the June 8 drawing. A written statement from the Oregon Lottery reported that Myren opted to take the 25-year annuity, rather than the lump sum.

Myren says he has told Sheriff Ken Matlack that he will continue working until he retires in two years. Myren says he and his wife have bought a new pickup truck.

According to the lottery statement, the Boardman Chevron will receive a one-percent bonus, which will bring the service station $55,000.

The Oregon Lottery began selling tickets in 1985 and has since earned more than $9 billion.
