OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma City Council is set to decide whether to annex Midtown into its downtown business improvement district.

The Oklahoman (https://bit.ly/1Trzqvn ) reports that if the council approves the annexation, it would make Downtown Oklahoma City Inc. responsible for providing the area with marketing, street furnishings and maintenance of two roundabouts.

The council is set to consider the annexation at its Tuesday meeting.

A.J. Kirkpatrick with Downtown Oklahoma City Inc. said the expansion was first contemplated in 2008. But Kirkpatrick said Midtown said at the time that it wasn’t ready to join.

Kirkpatrick said discussions started again this past year and major property owners like Midtown Renaissance concluded the area had matured to the point that marketing and other services were needed.
