WINCHESTER, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in eastern Indiana are continuing their search for an inmate who they say escaped from a jail while cleaning the lobby.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports 26-year-old Robert Dean Lewis fled from Randolph County jail in Winchester early Monday morning. The sheriff’s department says he escaped when a deputy went into a public bathroom to gather trash.

Lewis was in jail under $80,000 bond and is accused of stealing $80,000 from a local businessman.

According to authorities, Lewis was seen about 90 minutes after his escape in Richmond, which 25 miles south. Authorities believe he left Richmond a short time later, and WTHR-TV reports officials say he was driving a black 1990 Ford F-150 pickup.

Prosecutors filed a felony charge of escape against Lewis on Monday.
