SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Firefighters in Spokane County have rescued an unconscious man from a brush fire.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://is.gd/ayqr5M ) that county Fire District 8 Deputy Chief Greg Godfrey says a crew that responded Tuesday morning to a nearby column of smoke found a small brush fire and a man on the ground - on fire.

Firefighters pulled the man from the flames and treated him, then sent him to a hospital. Godfrey says about 14 percent of the man’s body was burned. His condition was not known Tuesday night.

Godfrey says the injured man may have been a transient. He says a small camp was found nearby and it appeared that a camp fire might have started the brush fire.
